Summary Explanation/Background

The Pompano Beach Residential District Advisory Board (RDAB) is an advisory board created by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to make nonbinding recommendations of appropriate projects and programs to alleviate residential slum and blight and directly benefit residents in the geographical area that composes the Northwest District of the Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Agency.

Frequent public meetings are important as it allows residents to gather and speak on issues and needs within the residential areas of the Northwest District of the Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Area. Several residents have inquired about the $10 million allocated to the Northwest Pompano Beach Residential Area and whether the Board of County Commissioners has received recommendations or made determinations regarding use of the funds. The last meeting of the RDAB was in February 2020. Since the members of the RDAB cannot communicate directly to each other due to Sunshine Law, there should be more frequent meetings, which may be virtual as permitted under Chapter 1-233 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances, in order to receive input from the community and provide updates to both the community and the Board regarding recommendations of appropriate projects and programs to alleviate residential slum and blight and directly benefit residents of the Northwest District of the Pompano Beach Community Redevelopment Area.
