MOTION TO REAFFIRM AND MODIFY sole source standardization of Siemens Building Technologies, Inc., for maintenance, repair and component replacement of Siemens Industry, Inc. (Siemens) equipment and systems at currently covered Broward County buildings, to include all present and future Broward County buildings that have Siemens Controls as their main control systems, for the Facilities Management Division, and change the standardization from Siemens Building Technologies, Inc. to Siemens Industry, Inc.

Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.19(a), the Board is required to approve all standardizations above the award authority of the Director of Purchasing, and Section 21.53(a), the Board is required to approve all contracts for supplies or services of more than five years.
What Action Accomplishes
Standardizes maintenance, repairs, and component replacement from the only contractor capable of providing needed services for Siemens controls equipment and systems for critical building systems in Broward County buildings.

THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT/PURCHASING DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
The purpose of this action is to reaffirm the standardization of Siemens Industry, Inc.
On June 10, 1986 (Item No. 23B), the Board approved sole source standardization under the name M.C.C. Powers. On August 19, 2003 (Item No. 23), the Board approved the subsequent modification to Siemens Building Technologies, Inc., reaffirmed on June 26, 2012 (Item No. 99) and on November 7, 2017 (Item No. 30).
