Summary Explanation/Background
THE PARKS AND RECREATION DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On July 1, 2019, through the authority granted to the County Administrator to take action during the Board’s 2019 summer recess (Item 74, June 11, 2019), the County and the City of Hollywood entered into an agreement for management of Hollywood North Beach Pocket Parks parking lots. On July 22, 2020, the Contract Administrator exercised his option to extend the Agreement term for one year, and executed the First Amendment to the Agreement, extending the Agreement term through June 30, 2021 (the original agreement and first amendment are collectively referred to as the “Agreement”).
The proposed Second Amendment will further extend the term of the Agreement by an additional three months, through September 30, 2021. By extending the term, the Second Amendment will provide time for the County and the City of Hollywood to complete negotiations of a new agreement for services similar to those described in the Agreement and avoid an interruption in those services.
This item would approve the proposed Second Amendment in substantially the form attached as Exhibit 1 and, subject to review of nonmaterial changes for legal sufficiency by the Office of the County Attorney, authorize the County Administrator to execute the Second Amendment and take any necessary budgetary and administrative actions to effectuate the Second Amendment.
It is expected that Exhibit 1 will be placed on the City of Hollywood City Commission Agenda for June 16, 2021.
