Summary Explanation/Background

The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) is established pursuant to Section 420.9076, Florida Statutes.  The AHAC reviews and makes recommendations to the Board regarding local affordable housing incentives, including incentive strategies; and evaluates established policies, procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and the local government comprehensive plan.  Recently, Section 420.9076, Florida Statutes, was amended to require one locally elected official from the County to serve on the AHAC.  The maximum number of AHAC members is eleven.

The proposed Ordinance, if enacted, would add one County Commissioner to serve on the AHAC, and eliminate the category of "essential services personnel."
