Summary Explanation/Background

The War Memorial Benefit Corporation has requested the County to contribute $500,000 toward the significant improvements and expansion to the War Memorial facility (the “Project”) at Holiday Park in the City of Fort Lauderdale. The estimated cost of the Project is approximately $65 million. The purpose of the Project is to bring international and national tourists for concerts, events, shows, and hockey tournaments.

Although the Project was originally funded privately, due to the pandemic, the Project has been delayed resulting increased construction materials cost. A letter from the War Memorial Benefit Corporation, dated June 8, 2021, providing additional details about the Project is attached hereto as Exhibit A.
