Why Action is Necessary

A. Section 20.31(b)(3), Broward County Administrative Code, requires that the Board of County Commissioners (“Commission”) approves all state and federal grant agreements.

 

B. Section 129.06(2)(d), Florida Statutes, requires a budget resolution to recognize revenue.

Appropriates $250,000 in grant funds from the DOJ/OJP to protect inmates from sexual abuse.

Summary Explanation/Background

GRANT ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL

Funds will be used by the Broward Sheriff’s Office to purchase equipment and provide training for detention personnel to better protect inmates from sexual abuse through an Interlocal Agreement with the County. Grants Administration will provide oversight and monitoring of this grant. This is a two-year grant that was delayed by DOJ’s new grant management system.
