THE INTERGOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS/BOARDS SECTION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THIS ITEM.
On February 26, 2019, the Board established the Fair Campaign Practices Committee to adjudicate complaints involving unfair campaign practices through nonbinding proceedings. The Committee is authorized to adjudicate complaints filed by candidates for certain elected offices. The Ordinance sets forth detailed procedures intended to ensure all adjudications are efficient, expeditious, and fair. Following a hearing where all parties will have an opportunity to be heard, the Committee may publicly censure those found to have violated the principles.
The League of Women Voters of Broward County, Inc. may nominate a representative from among its organizational membership. The following nomination has been received by the League of Women Voters of Broward County, Inc. for appointment: Madeleine Q. Mannello.
The County Attorney has determined that Ms. Mannello qualifies for appointment (Exhibit 1).
