Summary Explanation/Background

THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

On October 20, 2020, (Item No. 80), the Board approved an Agreement with Fuel Facility Management, Inc. (“FFM”) for management services of the Rental Car Center (“RCC”) Fueling Facility at Broward County’s Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (“FLL”). The initial term of three years commenced on December 1, 2020 in the amount of $3,084,264 for the initial three-year term of the Agreement.

The proposed First Amendment provides a mechanism to authorize FFM to provide emergency repairs at the fuel management facility operating in the RCC at FLL, if a sudden, unexpected, or impending situation arises in the fuel management system that may cause injury, loss of life, damage to property or interfere with the normal activities of the Airport. Additionally, the First Amendment authorizes the reimbursement of FFM’s costs related to the purchase of equipment, parts, or services from third parties that were necessary to remedy the emergency. The reimbursement amount for emergency services shall not exceed $100,000 during the initial three-year term of the Agreement.

The proposed First Amendment has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
