Why Action is Necessary

A. Section 20.31(b)(3), Broward County Administrative Code, requires that the Board of County Commissioners (“Commission”) approves all state and federal grant agreements.

 

B. Section 129.06(2)(d), Florida Statutes, requires a budget Resolution to recognize revenue.

 

What Action Accomplishes

Approves the agreement, and appropriates $250,000 in grant funds from the DOJ/OJP for BSO to expand the Crime Lab scope of service with NGS (Next Generation Sequencing) technology.

Summary Explanation/Background

GRANT ADMINISTRATION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL.

 

Funds will be used by the Broward Sheriff’s Office to purchase equipment to expand the scope of services for the Crime Lab, through an Interlocal Agreement with the County. Grants Administration will provide oversight and monitoring of this grant.
