Summary Explanation/Background

There are approximately 150 nursing homes and assisted living facilities with approximately 2,500 residents who have not received their COVID-19 vaccine booster shot, and who have limited opportunity to receive such due to logistical and other reasons.

CDR Health Care, Inc. (“CDR”) is a firm that has been providing vaccination services at long-term care facilities for the Florida Division of Emergency Management and Florida Department of Health since January 2021, and is familiar with the treatment protocols, supplies required, and federal/state reporting requirements for COVID-19 vaccinations. CDR has operated as a state-funded vendor in Broward County to administer COVID-19 vaccinations as well as operating monoclonal antibody treatment sites.

If approved, this item waives the procurement Code and authorizes the County Administrator to negotiate, approve, and execute an agreement with CDR to perform COVID-19 vaccination booster shots to residents of the 150 nursing homes and assisted living facilities within Broward County.  CDR will provide all labor, equipment, and services associated with this vaccine booster program and, based on initial discussion with CDR, it is believed that the full distribution can be performed within approximately 30 days and at a total maximum cost to the County of no greater than $1,209,540.
