Why Action is Necessary
Chapter 2, Section 2-40(a) of the Broward County Code of Ordinances requires that the Broward County Board of County Commissioners ("Board") authorize any commercial activities or the occupation of space at Broward County's Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport ("FLL").

Approves the Terminal Building Lease Agreement ("TBLA") between Broward County (“County”) and Bellsouth Communications, LLC, ("Bellsouth") to lease space throughout the airport campus, in accordance with the provisions of the TBLA, which establishes the payment of rent for the leased space at FLL.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action approves the TBLA between the County and Bellsouth to lease space at the airport in accordance with the provisions of the TBLA, which establishes the payment of rent for the leased space at FLL.
The proposed TBLA will allow Bellsouth to lease 1,167 square feet of space throughout the airport, for the purpose of installing, operating, and maintaining telecommunications equipment, including all activities reasonably necessary for such use.
Bellsouth has a security deposit in the amount of $82,774. The term of this Agreement shall commence on December 7, 2021 and terminate on December 6, 2026.
Bellsouth shall pay the rental rates established in Section 39.2 of the Broward County Administrative Code and rent will be automatically adjusted upon any amendment of the rates established therein.
The proposed TBLA has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney and the Risk Management Division.
