MOTION TO APPROVE Federal Aviation Administration Grant Agreement Number 3-12-0029-014-2022 for economic relief in the estimated amount of $59,000, in support of Broward County's North Perry Airport during the COVID-19 pandemic; and to authorize the County Administrator to take the necessary administrative and budgetary actions and to authorize the Director of Aviation to execute the agreement and approve any non-monetary amendments to the agreement, subject to the Office of the County Attorney approving as to legal sufficiency, and take the necessary administrative and budgetary actions related to such economic relief.

Board of County Commissioners ("Board") approval is required to approve a grant agreement with the Federal Aviation Administration ("FAA") and authorize execution by the Director of Aviation.

Allows the Board to approve the agreement and authorize the Director of Aviation to execute in order to accept Federal grant funding for economic relief administered by the FAA in support of North Perry Airport ("HWO") in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action allows Broward County to accept Federal grant funds from the Airport Rescue Grant associated with the American Rescue Plan Act ("ARPA").
On March 11, 2021, the President signed the ARPA of 2021 (Public Law 117-2) in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Section 7102 of ARPA provides eligible airports with relief funding for costs related to operations, personnel, cleaning, sanitization, and janitorial services. To support airport operations, HWO was allocated a maximum obligation of $59,000 to assist in economic relief.
