Summary Explanation/Background

THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This action approves an FDOT Public Transportation Grant Agreement (“PTGA”) to provide grant funding up to a maximum amount of $62,500, to assist with the purchase, labor, and installation of the Project at FLL. The total cost of the Project is estimated to be $125,000 (“Project Cost”). FDOT will fund 50% of the Project Cost. Broward County (“County”) will fund all expenses for the Project in excess of the amount of FDOT’s funding, currently estimated to be $62,500 or 50% of the Project Cost.

The Project will allow for the purchase of four new Closed Circuit Television (“CCTV”) portable units that will be placed at various locations on the landside portion of FLL. Most likely, the units will be placed at the following parking locations: Transportation Network Companies (“TNC”) Hold Lot, Taxi Hold Lot, Employee Parking Lot, and Cell Phone Lot. However, due to the units’ portability, these can be temporarily moved to other high traffic locations during peak operational periods.

The proposed PTGA has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney. The PTGA does not include the County's standard Agreement provisions as FDOT requires the County to use its form Agreement.
