MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution directing the County Administrator to publish Notice of a Public Hearing to be held on February 8, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., to consider enactment of an Ordinance adopting a proposed Small Scale amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan map (PC 22-2), located in the City of Deerfield Beach (Commission District 2), as an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan, the substance of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING A SMALL SCALE AMENDMENT TO THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AMENDING THE BROWARD COUNTY LAND USE PLAN WITHIN THE CITY OF DEERFIELD BEACH; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Why Action is Necessary
It is necessary to schedule a public hearing of the Broward County Board of County Commissioners to be held subsequent to receipt of a recommendation from the Broward County Planning Council prior to adoption of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan.
What Action Accomplishes
The Resolution directs the County Administrator to set a public hearing for February 8, 2022, to consider adoption of proposed map amendment PC 22-2, which is a small scale amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan, pursuant to Section 163.3184, Florida Statutes, as amended.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed small scale amendment, PC 22-2, at its December 2, 2021, public hearing and recommended approval, recognizing the applicant’s voluntary commitment to pay $500 per dwelling unit towards the City’s affordable housing programs, and including not requiring a second Planning Council public hearing. (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous; 13-0: Blackwelder, Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, Fernandez, Good, Grosso, Hardin, Maxey, Parness, Rich, Williams and DiGiorgio):

Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Deerfield Beach
From Commerce to a Dashed-Line Area consisting of 4.3 acres of Irregular (21.82) Residential and 12.2 acres of Commerce
Approximately 16.5 acres; generally located on the south side of Hillsboro Boulevard, between Interstate 95 and Natura Boulevard.
Further, if the County Commission sets the public hearing, the full amendment report and associated attachments will be included as an exhibit to the public hearing item.
