Summary Explanation/Background
On May 9, 2017 (Agenda Item No. 38), the Board of County Commissioners of Broward County ratified the nomination of Robert W. Melton for the position of Broward County Auditor (“County Auditor”) for a five-year term that commenced on June 12, 2017.
This item would reappoint Mr. Melton to the position of County Auditor for an additional five-year term to commence on June 13, 2022, with the same employment conditions, obligations, compensation, and benefit options as provided for in Mr. Melton’s current terms of employment.
Section 4.01 of the Broward County Charter governs the County Auditor appointment process, which is briefly outlined in the attached Office of the County Attorney memorandum (Exhibit 1).
