Summary Explanation/Background

THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

 

This action approves a FDOT PTGA to provide grant funding for the design of the Project at FLL.

 

The total cost of the Project is estimated to be $900,000. As part of the PTGA, FDOT will provide grant funding in the amount of $112,500, or 12.5% of the cost. The County will provide the required local match, estimated to be $112,500, or 12.5% of the Project cost, while covering any cost overruns. BCAD anticipates that the Federal Aviation Administration will provide additional grant funding in the estimated amount of $675,000, or 75% of the Project cost.

 

Taxiway A is parallel to FLL’s North Runway 10L-28R and is the primary taxiway serving the north side of the airport. The last rehabilitation of Taxiway A took place in 1999 and the taxiway currently displays signs of distresses and deterioration. The portion of the taxiway that is in need of rehabilitation measures 6,000 feet long by 75 feet wide and includes the shoulders and access connectors. The pavement rehabilitation will ensure that the taxiway remains in good operational condition for safe aircraft traffic.

 

The proposed PTGA was reviewed by the Office of the County Attorney. The PTGA does not include the County's standard Agreement provisions as FDOT requires the County to use its form Agreement.
