B. MOTION TO ADOPT budget Resolution within the Animal Care Adoption Trust Fund to appropriate revenue in the amount of $500,000 for Fiscal Year 2022 for the purpose of recognizing a donation received from the Stuart B. Reese Living Trust to be used for the funding of lifesaving programs.

Why Action is Necessary
Section 18.63 of the Administrative Code states that donations to the County of $10,000 or more shall be accepted by Resolution of the Board of County Commissioners. Board approval is necessary to appropriate revenue.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE RESILIENT ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE ANIMAL CARE DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTIONS
The Animal Care Division has received a generous donation from the Stuart B. Reese Living Trust in the amount of $500,000. These funds will be used to augment lifesaving programs, including $200,000 to help offset the cost of field vehicle upgrades from trucks to vans (Exhibits 1 - 4). (The vans provide improved safety and transport comfort for pets impounded by the Division.)
Inherent in the motion is authorization for the County Administrator to take all administrative and budgetary actions required to complete the donation. The Resolution is approved as to form by the County Attorney’s Office.
