MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution to place a referendum on the ballot for the August 23, 2022, Primary Election, the title of which is as follows:
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, PROVIDING FOR A REFERENDUM ELECTION TO BE HELD DURING THE 2022 PRIMARY ELECTION TO DETERMINE WHETHER THE SCHOOL BOARD OF BROWARD COUNTY MAY LEVY AN ADDITIONAL AD VALOREM TAX OF ONE MILL; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Summary Explanation/Background
In 2018, pursuant to Sections 1011.71 and 1011.73, Florida Statutes, and at the direction of The School Board of Broward County ("The School Board"), the Board of County Commissioners (the "Board") called a referendum election to determine whether the electors of Broward County would approve a levy by The School Board of an additional ad valorem tax of one-half mill for four years for specified purposes. The electors approved the one-half mill tax, which is set to expire at the end of the 2022-2023 school year.
