Summary Explanation/Background
THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTIONS.
The Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD) established a County Business Enterprise (CBE) participation goal of 15% for both agreements. Cartaya and Associates Architects, P.A. has committed to 51% CBE participation goal. Synalovski Romanik Saye, LLC has committed to 15% CBE participation goal.
On November 14, 2017 (Item No. 20), the Board approved the Agreements for Works of a Specified Nature between Broward County and Cartaya and Associates, P.A. (Motion A), and Broward County and Synalovski, Romanik, Saye, LLC (Motion B), for a not-to-exceed amount of $500,000 per year for two years from the date of the executed Agreement, with three, one-year renewals which may be executed under the authority of the Director of Purchasing for a total not-to-exceed five-year amount of $2,500,000.
Motions A and B allow for an increase to the Director of Purchasing’s award authority to execute work authorizations up to $500,000, in each agreement, that will help expedite the processing of various work authorizations in accordance with the Broward County Administrative Code, Chapter 21, Part VI.21.47(a).(b).(1).
Both Amendments have been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
