Summary Explanation/Background

On August 26, 1986, the County and Vinnette Carroll Repertory Company, Inc. (“Vinnette Carroll”) entered into a Lease Agreement for the Leasing of Real Property for use as a Theater (“Lease”) for the church building at 503 Southeast 6th Street, Fort Lauderdale.  The Lease was amended on January 20, 1998, to add the Broward County Film Society, Inc. as a co-tenant of the theater. On August 31, 1999, the Lease was further amended to extend the lease term until August 25, 2022.

The Broward County Film Society, Inc. requested a further extension of the term of the Lease to continue using the theater to present American independent, international, and local films year-round.  This Third Amendment to the Lease Agreement extends the term of the lease of five years, provides for two optional five-year renewals, and removes Vinnette Carroll, a dissolved Florida not-for-profit corporation, as tenant under the Lease.
