Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.19(a), the Board is required to approve all standardizations greater than the award authority of the Director of Purchasing; and Section 21.19(c), the Director of Purchasing may recommend to the Board that any brand or source of goods or services be standardized as the sole brand or sole source of goods or services that will be purchased for a County Agency or countywide.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE PURCHASING DIVISION AND THE PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/WATER AND WASTEWATER SERVICES RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
The purpose of this designation is to standardize the sole brand, DeZURIK/APCO, as the manufacturer of DeZURIK/APCO valves, parts, maintenance, and repair, and the sole source, Fluid Control Specialties, LLC, as the manufacturer's sole or exclusive representative for the purchase and maintenance of same. Water and Wastewater Services has over 300 DeZURIK/APCO valves installed in various operating areas of the treatment plants. These valves and associated parts are used in the sludge thickening, digester, and aeration processes.
