Pursuant to Section 29.17.(g) of the Broward County Administrative Code, a semi-annual report shall be filed with the Broward County Board of County Commissioners (Board) no later than August 31 each year.

Summary Explanation/Background

THE CULTURAL DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

 

This item supports the Board's value of cultivating community culture, arts, recreation, and lifelong learning and goals relating to providing diverse artistic, cultural, educational, and historical amenities and programs that contribute to a vibrant, multi-cultural, and economically viable community.

 

Exhibit 1 is a report of the funding activity of each award for Fiscal Year 2022 award cycle, to date. The report includes all awards that have been approved, the agreements that have been executed, the execution date of each agreement, the amount for which each agreement was executed, and expenditures for the reporting period.

 

Pursuant to Section 29.17.(d) and (e), the Director of the Division and the County Administrator are authorized to approve, and execute, agreements for the approved individual awards in the following grant program categories: General Operating Support (GOS); Program Support (PS) (organizations and artists), and Sponsorships.

 

1.) On October 19, 2021, the County Commission adopted Resolution No. 21-1696, Item 32, motions (A and B), to approve and that authorized the County Administrator to enter into a Grant Award agreement, subject to review for legal sufficiency by the office of the County Attorney, between Broward County for both the Museum of Discovery and Science, Inc., in the amount of $306,500.; and Nova Southeastern University, Inc., on behalf of its Museum of Art Division, in the amount of $252,643., both for a one-year contract term (for Fiscal Year 2022).

 

2.) On October 19, 2021, the County Commission adopted Resolution No. 21-1702, Item 33, a motion that authorized the County Administrator to enter into a Grant Award agreement, subject to review for legal sufficiency by the office of the County Attorney, between Broward County and ArtServe, Inc., in the amount of $200,000., for a one-year contract term (for Fiscal Year 2022).

 

Pursuant to Section 29.17.(g) of the Broward County Administrative Code, each semi-annual report shall include the following: the Grant Awards and Sponsorships approved during the reported period and, for each such Grant Award or Sponsorship, the approving authority, and the final approved amount; the execution dates for all agreements for Grant Awards and Sponsorships executed during the reporting period; for each Grant Award and Sponsorship, the amount paid to date; and for the Division, the total amount paid during the reported period.

 

Pursuant to Section 29.17.(g) of the Broward County Administrative Code, a semi-annual grant report shall be filed by the Division with the Board no later than August 31 of each year.
