Summary Explanation/Background

THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT, THE ACCOUNTING DIVISION, AND THE BROWARD COUNTY TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

The Broward County Transportation (BCT) Department requests approval for 13 staff members to travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania from September 27 - October 1, 2022, to attend the GIRO HASTUS International User’s Group 2022 Conference (Exhibit 1).

BCT has used various versions of the HASTUS software to develop its schedule for bus service since 2001. Recently, HASTUS has upgraded new and updated modules to support daily operations; and replaced the current bus operator dispatching and timekeeping system, which interfaced with KRONOS, but is no longer supported.

The HASTUS International User’s Group 2022 conference includes a variety of learning and networking opportunities, including dozens of workshops, training sessions, case studies, presentations, and roundtables with the HASTUS solution experts and users from around the world. BCT employees will participate in the conference to learn GIRO’s public transportation software solutions for data analysis, planning, scheduling, operations, and customer information.
