Summary Explanation/Background

Broward County created Redevelopment Units, defined as additional permitted dwelling units equal to three percent (3%) of the total number of dwelling units as established by the adoption of the BrowardNext - Broward County Land Use Plan on April 25, 2017. The City of Miramar has requested the allocation of 500 Redevelopment Units per Broward County Land Use Plan Policy 2.35.1.

The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the above referenced item at its September 22, 2022, meeting, and recommended approval of the City’s request. (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 15-0; Breslau, Brunson, Castillo, Fernandez, Gomez, Hardin, Horland, Levy, Parness, Reiter, Rich, Rosenof, Ryan, Williams and DiGiorgio)

Further, if the County Commission sets the public hearing, the full report and associated attachments will be included as an exhibit to the public hearing item.
