Summary Explanation/Background
This item supports the Board Goal, "Consistently delivering responsive, efficient, inclusive, and equitable quality services to the public and internal customers while providing a safe community to live, work and visit."

Broward County has been fortunate in recent years to have escaped the brunt of the major hurricanes that have caused such devastation to other Florida counties. It is imperative that the County be prepared for the next major hurricane that hits South Florida, including by establishing a master comprehensive logistics contract for disaster-related supplies and services of sufficient breadth and depth to meet the purchasing needs of Broward County and, if they so elect, of its municipalities. In preparing for and responding to a disaster, timing is everything, and one master contract will facilitate an expeditious response by Broward County.

In addition, this item will permit Board discussion of the status of related preparation activities for major disaster events, such as mock storm training to test the County's current setup and procedures.
