Why Action is Necessary

Pursuant to Section 163.3184(11), Florida Statutes, as amended, Broward County Comprehensive Plan amendments shall be adopted by Ordinance by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners, serving as the local governing body.

The Ordinance adopts Broward County Land Use Plan Small Scale map amendment PC 22-6, in accordance with Section 163.3187(1), Florida Statutes, as amended.

Summary Explanation/Background

The Planning Council, as the Local Planning Agency (LPA) responsible for the Broward County Land Use Plan, considered the following proposed small scale amendment, PC 22-6, at its December 1, 2022, public hearing and recommended approval, subject to the applicant’s voluntary commitment regarding affordable housing (15% of 200 dwelling units at the low and very-low income levels), and including not requiring a second Planning Council public hearing. (Vote of the Planning Council; Unanimous: 8-0; Blackwelder, Breslau, Castillo, Gomez, Hardin, Rich, Zeman and DiGiorgio):

 

AMENDMENT PC 22-6

Amendment to the Broward County Land Use Plan - City of Hallandale Beach

 

From Low-Medium (10) Residential to High (50) Residential

Approximately 5.4 acres; generally located on the east side of Northwest 8 Avenue, between Northwest 2 Street and Northwest 3 Street.
