Summary Explanation/Background

The Broward Sheriff’s Office supports this LETF request for the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Unit. The Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Unit enhances the availability and affordability of air support for public safety uses. UAS may be operated in areas inaccessible to manned aircraft due to weather, space or other safety considerations. BSO UAS are utilized to increase scene safety during critical incidents, locate missing persons and assist in the apprehension of fleeing suspects. UAS provide a unique, viable, sage, versatile, and supplemental tool to incident commanders and first responders.
