In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.56, Board approval is required for change orders on construction contracts that exceed 10% of the original contract amount.

Authorizes the Purchasing Director to approve a change order to the subject contract so that additional work for the surface preparation and gel coating of the four large water park slides at C.B. Smith Park can be completed.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE PARKS AND RECREATION DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
A bid for the reapplication of gel coating ("Waterslide Gel Coating") for the large water slides at Paradise Cove Water Park located at C.B. Smith Park (BLD2122924B1) (the "Contract") commenced on July 23, 2021, and closed on August 11, 2021. As a result of the bid, Champion Painting Specialty Services ("Champion") was awarded the contract and a Purchase Order (PRA2101163) was issued in the amount of $194,250, effective September 23, 2021. A Notice to Proceed for the Waterslide Gel Coating project was issued on February 7, 2022. The intent was for this project to be completed by March 11, 2022, to be ready for the seasonal opening of the water park on March 17, 2022.
