Summary Explanation/Background

This matter is a whistleblower retaliation action brought by a former Broward County employee. The Second Amended Complaint alleges that the retaliatory actions of Broward County led the employee to resign his position, resulting in damages, including back pay and emotional distress.

 

The plaintiff has agreed to release Broward County from all claims arising from his lawsuit in exchange for $91,500, which includes costs and attorney’s fees, subject to Board approval.

 

The Port Everglades Department recommends approval of this settlement.
