Summary Explanation/Background
The 2024 International Cricket Council Men's T20 World Cup, an international Twenty20 cricket tournament, is scheduled to be played in June 2024 in the West Indies and the United States. It will be the first ICC World Cup tournament to feature matches played in the United States. Central Broward Regional Park will be one of the hosts of matches played in the United States. The event is expected to provide national and international exposure for Broward County, bringing numerous international visitors and showcasing Broward County and the state of Florida in international broadcasts of the event, which are expected to be viewed by over two billion people worldwide.
This item proposes to amend the State Program to add the following statement to the Appropriations Section:
2024 International Cricket Council Men's T20 World Cup
Funding Request - Will be provided as Additional Information
SUPPORT funding for the staging of the International Cricket Council Men's T20 World Cup in Florida, including upgrades to Central Broward Regional Park and Stadium and logistical support.
