Summary Explanation/Background
THE AVIATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action authorizes the County Administrator to execute the grant agreement with the State of Florida Department of Management Services.
The Broward County Aviation Department (“BCAD”) applied for the Florida Local Government Cybersecurity Grant (“Grant Program”) administered by the Florida Digital Service in support of cybersecurity efforts at the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (“FLL”). On May 17, 2023, BCAD was notified that its grant proposal had been selected for participation in the Grant Program and was provided a grant agreement, which is required to be executed by June 13, 2023.
Pursuant to this grant agreement, BCAD will receive licenses, through a State selected provider, for certain cybersecurity solutions for FLL. This item supports cybersecurity initiatives for a Security Operations Platform, including software and services associated with a Security Operations Center.
At the time of submission of this action, the grant agreement was under review for approval by the County Attorney’s Office. Prior to its consideration of this action, BCAD will provide the grant agreement to the Board.
