Summary Explanation/Background

THE FINANCE AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

 

On January 8, 2019 (Item No. 56), the Direct Procurement Authority approved the Technical Services Agreement for Design Phase Services among Broward County, Matthews Holdings Southwest, Inc. (MSW) and Omni Hotels Management Corporation (Omni) for a not to exceed amount of $400,000, for services related to design work for the Headquarters Hotel project. Omni is the designated hotel “flag” for Broward County’s Convention Center’s hotel; MSW is the Developer (for both the convention center expansion and headquarter hotel project).

 

On April 28, 2019, the Director of Purchasing approved the First Amendment to the Technical Services Agreement to authorize up to a maximum total amount of $50,000 for Reimbursable Expenses. This First Amendment contemplated that the Parties would enter into a subsequent amendment to provide for construction phase technical services.

 

This amendment provides clarification on services provided by Omni and MSW, extends the term to be effective date of the amendment through opening date of the hotel, and increases the maximum not-to-exceed amount for Reimbursable Expenses from $50,000 to $100,000. The amendment also provides for construction phase technical services and for pre-opening services and related fees.
