Why Action is Necessary
Pursuant to Chapter 3½-6(f) of the Broward County Code of Ordinances, a public hearing must be held to consider the award or denial of Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity (“COPCN”).
What Action Accomplishes
Provides the Board of County Commissioners with an opportunity to receive public comments concerning an applicant seeking to provide Class 2 - ALS Transfer services and Class 3 - BLS Transport services within Broward County.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE RESILIENT ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE CONSUMER PROTECTION DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
Chapter 3½ of the Broward County Code of Ordinances identifies the process by which every person, firm, corporation, or association must abide to provide emergency medical services within Broward County, Florida. The Consumer Protection Division acts as the designee of the County Administrator for the purpose of reviewing and processing applications for Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity (“COPCN”), including Class 2 - ALS Transfer and Class 3 - BLS Transport services. The application process and monitoring of certified agencies are further promulgated through the rules and regulations set forth in Chapter 3½ of the Broward County Code of Ordinances.
The Consumer Protection Division has received and reviewed the applications from RG Ambulance Service, Inc., d/b/a Century Ambulance Service and have found the applicant to be in compliance with all County rules and regulations relating to the provisions of Class 2 - ALS Transfer and Class 3 - BLS Transport services. The full applications, including exhibits, are maintained by the Consumer Protection Division. The Consumer Protection Division will present the applications to the Board for its consideration during the Public Hearing scheduled for April 16, 2024.
