Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with the FDOT Public Transportation Grant Agreements, Section 6 and 7, time extensions must be requested by the agency and granted by FDOT, and the agreements may be amended or extended upon mutual agreement of both parties
What Action Accomplishes
Extends the FDOT capital grant funding agreement Contract No. G1H10 in the amount of $1,748,392 for one year, consistent with FDOT policies and procedures, to provide sufficient time for the purchase of capital equipment (security enhancements) for Park and Ride facility improvements associated with the 95 Express service at the Miramar Park and Ride lot.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
Approval of this Florida Department of Transportation Request for Extension of Public Transportation Agreement form (Exhibit 1) will allow additional time for the capital equipment purchases for the park and ride facilities associated with an FDOT Public Transportation Grant Agreement (PTGA) for 95 Express Bus Service capital equipment.
As background, on December 10, 2019, Item 11, the Board approved a Public Transportation Grant Agreement (PTGA) with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) to provide $1,748,392 for capital purchases and improvements for the 95 Express Bus service (buses, park & ride lot enhancements, signage, shelter and bus stop upgrades, and other eligible capital equipment purchases deemed necessary.) The term of the initial PTGA was from date of execution by FDOT through December 31, 2022, and was subsequently extended through March 31, 2024, by Board action on November 15, 2022, Item 12. The Transportation Department is requesting a one-year extension to allow sufficient time to complete security enhancements at the Miramar Park and Ride lot that are allocated to this grant.
