MOTION TO APPROVE Agreement between Broward County and Areawide Council on Aging of Broward County, Inc., in the amount of $750,000, effective October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024, to provide emergency home-delivered meals to eligible Broward County seniors adversely affected by COVID-19; authorize the Mayor and Clerk to execute same; and authorize the County Administrator to take all necessary administrative and budgetary actions to implement the Agreement.

Broward County Board of County Commissioners ("Commission") approval is required for agreements with external agencies.
What Action Accomplishes
This Agreement ensures the continuation of emergency home-delivered meals to eligible Broward County seniors who are continuing to experience food insecurity as a direct result of sheltering in place due to COVID-19.

THE HUMAN SERVICES DEPARTMENT AND THE ELDERLY AND VETERANS SERVICES DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This action supports the Commission's value of "building strong customer relationships and delivering customer-centric solutions" and the goal of "delivering accessible human services that holistically address the whole person collaboratively and compassionately."
The COVID-19 Emergency Meals Program provides emergency home-delivered meals to Broward County adults, age 60 and older, who are experiencing food insecurity as a direct result of sheltering in place due to the ongoing threat of COVID-19.
