MOTION TO APPROVE First Amendment to Agreement between Broward County and Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) for year-round marine patrol and enforcement services in accordance with the conservation component of the County's Manatee Protection Plan in the estimated total amount of $1,078,252 for a period of five years, effective October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2028, and authorize the Mayor and Clerk to execute same. In accordance with Broward County Procurement Code Section 21.94.a, action by the Broward County Board of County Commissioners is necessary to amend contracts.

THE RESILIENT ENVIRONMENT DEPARTMENT AND THE NATURAL RESOURCES DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
This item supports the County's value of building partnerships and working collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives and the goal of ensuring accessible, seamlessly integrated investments in renewable energy, sustainable practices, manufacturing, resilient infrastructure, and environmental protection.
On June 26, 2007, the Board of County Commissioners (Board) approved the Boat Facility Siting Plan component of the Manatee Protection Plan (Item No. 49). The Manatee Protection Plan (MPP) requires various conservation measures including the services of an additional law enforcement officer to patrol specific waterways that include the New River, South Fork of the New River, and the Dania Cutoff Canal.
