Summary Explanation/Background
THE TRANSPORTATION DEPARTMENT RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

This item supports the Board's Connected Community Goal of "Cooperatively delivering and efficient and accessible regional intermodal transportation network."

The Broward County Transit Premium Mobility (PREMO) Plan is the vision for transit to move Broward County into the future (Exhibit 1). It defines a network of premium and high-capacity transit projects that will provide modern convenient mobility that is attractive, safe, reliable, and frequent. PREMO will provide direct connections to the Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, Port Everglades seaport, and Broward County's Convention Center and provide a regional commuter rail connection initially between Broward and Miami-Dade County (Broward Commuter Rail South). The premium network consists of 11.5 miles of commuter rail, 23.3 miles of Light Rail Transit (LRT), 76 miles of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), and 100 miles of High Frequency Bus Service.
