Why Action is Necessary
It appears likely, due primarily to dramatically increased construction costs, the County and City of Fort Lauderdale will no longer pursue the current Joint Governmental Center Campus Project. Other options must therefore be explored.

At a May 5, 2022, Board workshop, a general consensus was reached that the continued viability of the Joint Governmental Center Campus Project would depend on various factors, including that the County and the City of Fort Lauderdale fully develop and approve both a "cohabitation agreement" and the competitive solicitation (RFP) for the project on or before the Board's June 14 meeting. Since May 5, no material progress has been made on either document.
