Why Action is Necessary
Broward County Local Provider Participation Fund Ordinance, Article V of Chapter 16 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances, provides for the Board to adopt a rate resolution for the Special Assessment.

What Action Accomplishes
This action approves the non-ad valorem assessment rates and amounts to be levied on private for-profit and not-for-profit hospitals that provide inpatient hospital services and sets the Public Hearing to adopt the assessment rates and amounts.

Summary Explanation/Background
Pursuant to the Broward County Local Provider Participation Fund Ordinance, codified in Article V of Chapter 16 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances ("Ordinance"), the Broward County Board of County Commissioners will convene a public hearing to discuss, consider, and take action on a resolution setting the rate of collection and assessment amount for a non-ad valorem special assessment on local private hospitals ("Special Assessment"), which Special Assessment is due on November 30, 2022.
