MOTION TO AWARD fixed contract to Motor Coach Industries Inc., under the State of Georgia Department of Administrative Services Contract No. 99999-001-SPD0000138-0006, for Broward County Transit Division, for Public Mass Transit and Transportation Vehicles and Related Equipment and Accessories, to purchase five over-the-road, heavy-duty commuter coaches, in the total amount of $3,028,000 to be delivered within four months from the issuance of the Notice to Proceed.

Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.135.e, the Director of Purchasing shall have the authority to enter into a contract awarded by a public procurement unit, if the public procurement unit and/or the vendor agree to such an award of their contract, and the procurement was accomplished under generally accepted public procurement principles. The actual award of such a contract shall be made by the applicable awarding authority.

Provides for the purchase of five over-the-road, heavy-duty commuter coach transit buses for use by the Transportation Department to improve the capacity of the transit system.
