MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2020-112 directing the County Administrator to publish notice of a Public Hearing to be held on April 21, 2020 at 10:00 a.m., in Room 422 of the Governmental Center to consider enactment of a proposed Ordinance, the title of which is as follows:
AN ORDINANCE OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY, FLORIDA, ADOPTING AN AMENDMENT TO THE WATER MANAGEMENT ELEMENT OF THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN; AND PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY AND AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Why Action is Necessary
Section 163.3184(11), Florida Statutes, requires Broward County to publish notice of public hearings to adopt comprehensive plan amendments.

Summary Explanation/Background
THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT (EPGMD), THE LOCAL PLANNING AGENCY (LPA), AND THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) approved the 2018 Lower East Coast Regional Water Supply Plan update on November 8, 2018; the final administrative order was issued on January 11, 2019. Therefore, consistent with State law, Broward County must adopt its Water Supply Facilities Work Plan ("Work Plan") by May 2020.
As part of the Work Plan update, staff recommends amending Policies WM2.1 and WM3.1 of the Water Management Element in the Broward County Comprehensive Plan. Policy WM2.1 (shown in Exhibit 3 - Attachment A), adopts the County's Work ...
