Summary Explanation/Background
PARKS AND RECREATION DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

Tall Cypress Natural Area (TCNA) is designated as Environmentally Sensitive Land and is the subject of an Interlocal Agreement between Broward County and the City of Coral Springs (City) dated January 12, 1993, as amended by the First Amendment to Interlocal Agreement dated April 7, 1998. The 30-acre TCNA site was among 19 other sites that were acquired as part of the County's Environmentally Sensitive Lands 1989 Bond Issue. The City acquired approximately 36 acres adjacent to the 30 acres purchased by the County. Through the Interlocal Agreement, the City agreed to allow the County to maintain the City-owned acreage, and to combine the two properties (66 acres) as a natural area. The County manages the site and developed and enhanced the natural area with a restroom, parking lot, seating area, interpretive signs, and boardwalk. The TCNA opened to the public on February 7, 2002.
