MOTION TO ADOPT Resolution No. 2021-027 directing the County Administrator to publish notice of public hearing on February 23, 2021, at 10:00 a.m., in room 422 of the Governmental Center to consider transmittal of an amendment to the Broward County Comprehensive Plan to designated state agencies, the title of which is as follows:
A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF BROWARD COUNTY TRANSMITTING A PROPOSED AMENDMENT TO THE WATER MANAGEMENT ELEMENT OF THE BROWARD COUNTY COMPREHENSIVE PLAN TO DESIGNATED STATE AGENCIES; AND PROVIDING AN EFFECTIVE DATE.

Why Action is Necessary
Section 163.3184(11), Florida Statutes, requires Broward County to publish notice of public hearings to adopt comprehensive plan amendments.

THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT, THE LOCAL PLANNING AGENCY, AND THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
On March 28, 2019, the Board adopted the BrowardNEXT2.0 Comprehensive Plan. BrowardNEXT2.0 was a comprehensive plan rewrite, and the Water Management Element includes policies that address the impacts of sea level rise on water management infrastructure. Policy WM 2.8 requires identification of water infrastructure at risk from the impacts of sea level rise.
