Why Action is Necessary
In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.31.a.4, Board approval is required for awards exceeding $500,000.
What Action Accomplishes
Awards a deliberately phased professional consulting services contract to WSP USA, Inc. for the completion of a transit systemwide study that will identify and develop high-capacity transit corridors and a comprehensive multimodal connected transportation system. It will include planning, economic benefits analysis, land use and housing benefits analysis, NEPA/environmental analysis, and preliminary engineering design. The contract will provide recommendations regarding the feasibility of adopting rail, bus rapid transit (BRT) and other modes of transportation into the County's current transit system. The study will prioritize and rank BRT and rail corridors. The highest ranked BRT and rail corridor will each be taken to 30% design.
