Summary Explanation/Background
THE ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND GROWTH MANAGEMENT DEPARTMENT (EPGMD) AND THE PLANNING AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGEMENT DIVISION RECOMMEND APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.
Chapter 163, Part II, Florida Statutes requires the Comprehensive Plan contain a Capital Improvements Element (CIE). This must include a Schedule of Capital Improvements showing publicly funded projects of federal, state, or local government; projects necessary to ensure that adopted level-of-service standards are achieved and maintained for at least five years; and transportation improvements that are in the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization's Transportation Improvement Program (MPOTIP). The schedule must be adopted annually into the CIE after the new budget is approved.
