In accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code Section 21.43, Board approval is required to extend the agreement beyond five years.

What Action Accomplishes
Provides Board approval for extending the period of performance beyond 5 years, increases the spending limits for optional services by $125,000, and increases the spending limits for support and maintenance by $425,000.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Paging system is utilized to provide alphanumeric paging as a method of delivering detailed 911 dispatch related information to first responders throughout Broward County. Continued operation of this system is necessary to ensure timely and reliable 911 dispatch related information via alphanumeric pagers until build out of the system is completed.
The contract with SONIK Messaging Systems, Inc. for the alphanumeric paging system was executed in 2016 by the Director of Purchasing. The Director of Purchasing's authority is limited to 5-years. The amendment will allow for up to five 1-year options for continued support and maintenance services, with an associated total increase in support and maintenance not-to-exceed amounts of $425,000.
