MOTION TO AUTHORIZE County Administrator to submit Broward County's grant application to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement ("FDLE") for the Fiscal Year 2020 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Countywide Program in the amount of $348,691, for homeless shelter security upgrades, juvenile justice services, mental health and substance abuse services, and street outreach services for individuals and families who are experiencing homelessness; authorize the County Administrator to execute the resulting FDLE grant agreements (subject to review for legal sufficiency by the Office of the County Attorney) for the FDLE grant period of October 1, 2021, through September 30, 2022; authorize the County Administrator to execute amendments to the resulting FDLE grant agreements (subject to review for legal sufficiency by the Office of the County Attorney) that do not significantly alter the approved scope of services; and authorize the County Administrator to take all necessary administrative and budgetary actions to implement the agreements.

Why Action is Necessary
Section 20.31, Broward County Administrative Code, requires that the Broward County Board of County Commissioners ("Commission") approves grant applications that will become binding awards and approves all state and federal grant agreements.
What Action Accomplishes
This action enables the County Administrator to submit the grant application to FDLE and execute the resulting grant agreements on a timely basis.
