Title: MOTION TO AUTHORIZE County Administrator to negotiate and execute with municipalities and Broward Sheriff's Office an Interlocal Agreement for Cooperative Fire, Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, Special Operations Response through Automatic Aid and Closest Unit Response in substantially the form attached as Exhibit 1, subject to review by the Office of the County Attorney as to legal sufficiency, to facilitate closest unit response; and to authorize the County Administrator to approve any modifications and execute any amendments thereto in order to permit the parties to provide services and facilities in a manner consistent with the geographic, economic, demographic, and other factors influencing the applicable communities, provided there is no material increase in the financial or operational responsibilities of County.

Summary Explanation/Background
In 2002, Broward County voters amended the Charter to require the County, in cooperation with municipalities, to establish a countywide communications infrastructure for fire rescue services and provide funding for the communications infrastructure. One of the objectives of this Charter provision is to facilitate the establishment of a countywide Closest Unit Response capability.
