The proposed Ordinance was prepared by the Office of the County Attorney at the direction of the Board of County Commissioners ("Board") at its meeting of May 18, 2021.

What Action Accomplishes
Enables the setting of a public hearing during which the Board may consider enacting an Ordinance amending Section 5-557 of the Broward County Code of Ordinances to provide for changes to the membership of the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee.

Summary Explanation/Background
The Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC) is established pursuant to Section 420.9076, Florida Statutes. The AHAC reviews and makes recommendations to the Board regarding local affordable housing incentives, including incentive strategies; and evaluates established policies, procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and the local government comprehensive plan. Recently, Section 420.9076, Florida Statutes, was amended to require one locally elected official from the County to serve on the AHAC. The maximum number of AHAC members is eleven....
