Why Action is Necessary

Board of County Commissioners’ approval is required for Amendments to Agreements exceeding the approval authority of the Director of Purchasing, in accordance with the Broward County Procurement Code, Section 21.47(a).

Summary Explanation/Background

PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT/HIGHWAY AND BRIDGE MAINTENANCE DIVISION RECOMMENDS APPROVAL OF THE ABOVE MOTION.

 

On October 23, 2018 (Item No. 19), the Board of County Commissioners approved the Agreement between Broward County and RS&H, Inc., for Continuing Engineering Services for Transportation and General Civil Engineering Projects (RFP No. PNC2114364P1) to provide continuing engineering services for transportation and general civil engineering projects, including all necessary engineering specialties for the design, construction and construction management of these projects.

 

On May 27, 2021, Work Authorization No. 23 was issued to provide design and construction engineering inspections services for highway and bridge maintenance projects (Exhibit 2).

 

This item seeks Board approval of Amendment No. 1 (Exhibit 1) to Work Authorization No. 23 which provides an additional $324,342 for design and construction engineering inspections services necessary for additional highway and bridge maintenance projects.

 

The Office of Economic and Small Business Development (OESBD) established a County Business Enterprise (CBE) goal of 21% for this project.  RS&H, Inc. committed to 30% CBE participation (Exhibit 3).

 

This Amendment No. 1 has been reviewed and approved as to form by the Office of the County Attorney.
